Blake Geoffrion Set To Retire
Blake Geoffrion is worried about his health and decided to retire from professional hockey, according to John Buccigross, ESPN. He has already informed the Montreal Canadiens organization of its plans.
“I love hockey more than anything and this decision is heartbreaking, Geoffrion said. But speaking of my brain. ‘
On 9 November 2012, during a match of the Hamilton Bulldogs, the striker 25 years was the victim of a skull fracture for which he had to undergo surgery later. Severely defeated by the defender Jean-Philippe Côté, the Syracuse Crunch, his head struck the band. He then had to leave the meeting, bloody face, before being taken to hospital in intensive care.
Although shaken, he did not have suffered a serious injury on the spot. However, he remembers thinking he should receive stitches, since one side of the pads was shot in the head and was bleeding.
This is the infirmary doctors found that the injury was more serious than previously thought.
Rushed to the hospital, he suffered the same evening surgery for a compressed fracture of the skull.
It is only a few days later, on his hospital bed, he realized the gravity of the situation and any chance he had.
In February, when he met the media before a game the Canadiens at the Bell Centre, he was not considering retirement at all. His state of health will change his mind.
Few days after the surgery, the doctors had talked about a complete cure.
